Building a culture where bringing near-misses and accidents into the open for discussion without repercussion is key to keeping the team safe! Every near-miss or accident is an opportunity to identify where something went wrong with people, process, or material ... investigate .. then act! Sirius has built a culture of safety and understands that there is always room to improve. Improvement ultimately has to come from the team. Safety is not something that is best driven from the top down. Safety thrives when the team comes together and understands it is best for everyone and our families to watch out for each other and identify hazards before they become accidents.

Sirius Controls operates in an industry, and with products, where the potential for accident exists. It is important that a Safety Program outlining policies and procedures be in place to minimize or eliminate these risks to our employees, our guests and to the general public. The ultimate goal of the Sirius Controls Safety Program is to prevent ALL accidents, improve work practices, promote better communication, and improve companywide attitudes about safety.

SAFTEY POLICY

Sirius Controls is committed to the protection from accidental loss of all its resources, including employee and physical assets. In fulfilling this commitment to protect both people and property, management will provide and maintain a safe and healthful work environment in accordance with industry standards and in compliance with legislative requirements, and will strive to eliminate any foreseeable hazards which may result in property damage, accidents or personal injury/illness. All employees will be equally responsible for minimizing accidents within our facilities. Safe work practices and procedures will be clearly defined in the Safety Manual for all employees to follow. Accidental loss can be controlled through good management in combination with active employee involvement. Safety is the direct responsibility of all managers, supervisors, and employees. It is our objective that all management functions will comply with legislative safety requirements as they relate to planning, operation and maintenance of facilities and equipment. All employees will perform their jobs properly in accordance with established procedures and safe work practices. I trust that all of you will join us in a personal commitment to make safety a way of life.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

  • Safety is the number one priority in the Sirius Controls Organization. Ensuring no one is injured at the work place is critical to both our business and our personal being.
  • Zero personal safety incidents and an environmental incident-free facility are achievable. All Safety and Environmental incidents are preventable and every employee must take personal responsibility to eliminate these incidents.
  • Safety and Environment is a shared responsibility. Everyone is accountable.
  • Every employee must follow all policies, standards, guidelines and procedures 100% of the time.
  • Support and participate in Behavior Based Safety programs, and where appropriate, we strongly encourage Contractor Safety programs.
  • Positive interventions are conducted by everyone to correct and reinforce safe behaviours. We must welcome intervention from our colleagues.
  • Report all Safety and Environmental incidents and participate in the investigations.
  • Proactively identify all Safety and Environmental issues and commit to ensuring their resolution.
  • Educate yourself on information needed to do your role. Share your learning.
  • Think Safety. Think about what you are doing, before you do it, while you are doing it and after you have done it.
